Profile
The History of Briars Country Lodge
Established in the late 1980s, Briars Country Lodge is situated on 3.8 hectares of lush country grounds and shares this land with Briars Inn. Briars Country Lodge features 31 modern country motel rooms and a fully licensed Garden Conservatory available for daily breakfast service, weddings, conferences and private functions.
Dawn Strauss has been the owner of Briars Country Lodge since 2017 and has established her family oriented business with a focus on warm country hospitality and customer service.
During 1827, Briars Inn was built as a coaching inn by William Bowan and converted to the ‘Royal Oak Inn’ in 1845. Between 1958 to 1974, this venue served as an Art school for the Sydney Church of England Girls Grammar School before reverting back to a hospitality venue.
During September 2018 Briars Inn was devastated by a substantial kitchen fire and has since undergone extensive renovations. Briars Inn is now open to the public and Country Lodge guests for lunch and dinner reservations.
